Financial Peace University

Please join us Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm beginning June 1, 2011.
Register online at www.davermsey.com/fpu, or at church by singing up on the sheet outside the sanctuary, or by calling the church office. The first class is free. If you wish to continue then we ask for a donation to cover the cost of the materials, which is $100 total per family or $7.70 per week. Financial assistance available if needed.
Financial Peace University (FPU) will empower you to handle money according to biblical principles. Over a million families have enrolled in FPU and the average family eliminates $5,300 in debt and saves $2,700 during the 13 week class.
So, what is the goal of Financial Peace?!? Incredible things happen when you learn to manage your money according to scripture. FPU will reach you to live like no one else, so later you get to live like no one else. What does that really mean? Does it mean we want you to earn and have lots of money, so you get really wealthy and can buy whatever you want for the rest of your life? Of course not.
There is nothing wrong with having money. There are a lot of people who have the idea that rich people are somehow evil. This is simply not true! You see, money is amoral. It doesn‘t have any guiding principles on its own. Having money or not does not have to change you. If you are a generous person and you become wealthy, you may become a generous, wealthy person. It is all about whose hands the money is in.
So there is nothing wrong with having money. But as Dave Ramsey says, "If you eat enough lobster, even it will start to taste like soap." Having stuff will never satisfy you. That is why the ultimate goal of taking control of your money is not about building wealth for wealth‘s sake.
There are a lot of incredible things that happen when you learn to manage your money instead of letting it manage you. Here are some ways families have experienced financial peace:
Financial peace strengthens relationships.
You may not realize how much your relationship with money affects your relationships with others. FPU will teach you how to get on the same page as your spouse and eliminate money fights for good. Getting rid of this source of conflict is life changing!
Financial peace brings a sense of hope and freedom.
When you find out where your money is going instead of wondering where it went, it is amazing how much less stress you
experience in life. Not only are you not worrying about bills, but you have a plan for the future. This brings about a sense of
confidence and hope, and freedom!
Financial peace changes your family tree.
What kind of legacy do you want to leave for your family? You may not leave millions behind someday, but it is important to de-cide what type of legacy you want to create. Let generations come to benefit from the wisdom you chose to live by. That‘s chang-ing your family tree!
Financial peace allows you the freedom to give generously.
If you have ever experienced what it is like to freely give to someone else, then you have tasted the joy of giving. There is nothing more fun and fulfilling to do with money than this! When you have debt payments out the wazoo, it is hard to feel like you can give. It robs you of your opportunity to give from your God-given desire to help others and to meet the needs you feel most
passionate about. When you get in control of your money, you are able to meet needs with joy instead of guilt.
Experience life to the fullest and discover a sense of peace and freedom that reaches beyond your wallet.
